In front of a "rectoversé" painting, it is the onlooker who starts the movement. While walking around the painting, he can allocate to one or the other of the two full sides the status of potential front or back. Each person makes their own choice, "Rectoversion" stipulates that the virtual front corresponds to the side that is studied while the side not seen is the virtual back. As for the third side, made up of a vacuum, it is undoubtedly
the most enigmatic side of a "rectoversé" painting.
The shadow it projects on a wall further enhances its legibility. |
