KEYS DATES

Until March 2002, the key dates of Rectoversion follow the same course as Michel De Caso
who arrived in Paris at the end of 1980.

1981-1987
The Gestation of Rectoversion
MDC makes systematic visits to the Paris museums and exhibitions.
Years of intensive experimentaion with visual arts.
Gradual distancing of paintings from the wall.
1986
"The subconscious exists, I've encountered it",
the first painting-sculpture set at a distance from the wall
with both painted front (recto) and back (verso).

1988-1990
The Pre-Rectoversion period
Completion of numerous double-sided paintings.
Series of the "Absences-Presences", non-pierced double-sided paintings.

1991
The Birth of Rectoversion
Creation of the neologism "Rectoversion", from "recto" and "version", meaning:
"making the front rotate".
The first double-sided paintings pierced in different places, in other words "rectoversés".
Minimalist pictorial style.
The "rectoversé monochrome" series, the prototypes of rectoversion.
Schematic explanation of the Rectoversion operation applied to "rectoversé monochrome".

1992
Confrontation of the concept at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Hand-written documents on the Rectoversion concept.

1993
The first "rectoversed" painting to be exhibited in public (Milly-La-Fôret, Art Exhibition).

1994
The first large sized "rectoversed" paintings.
The pictorial style is no longer minimalist.

1997
The first individual sizeable exhibition of "rectoversed painting" at the Salle des Elections
in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne.

1998
The second sizeable exhibition of "rectoversé painting"
at the Chapelle des Tanneurs Exhibition Center
in Nemours, Seine-et-Marne.

1999
"Perspective and rectoversion" : MDC is Guest of Honour at the Art Exhibition,
Centre Alfred de Vigny, Voisins-Le-Bretonneux, Yvelines.

2000
Publication of "Rectoversion, histoire" :
18 pages, four-colour printing, in French, English and Spanish.
MDC leaves the Paris region for the Aude region.
Installation of Le Rigou Studio.
Publication of "Rectoversion, analogies et différences", 54 pages.

2001
Tenth Anniversary of Rectoversion
Publication of "Rectoversion, l'issue"("Rectoversion, the exit"), 356 pages.
Exhibition of "rectoversé" paintings in the Aude, at Maison Gibert of Lézignan-Corbières.
Creation of the A.D.A.P. (Association De Caso Artiste Plasticien)
